Periodic Maintenance
Gangways and accommodation ladders must be properly maintained and inspected at appropriate intervals, as required by SOLAS, and in accordance to the manufacturer's instructions.
Five-Yearly Operational Load Test
At every five yearly survey, gangways and ladders should be operationally tested with the specified maximum operational load, where the load has to be applied as uniformly as possible.
Fittings & Ancillary Equipment Examination
During the annual and five-yearly survey all fittings, davits, handholds, stanchions, winches etc. need to be properly examined.
